At Personal Care Specialists, supporting carers with cost of living support remains important in 2026 as many care workers continue to feel financial pressures at home.
As a small, family‑owned home care agency, we’ve been proudly supporting people to live well at home across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire area for nearly 15 years. We know that behind every great care service is a great team of dedicated Carers, and that life outside of work hasn’t been easy for many recently.
Although headlines in early 2026 suggest that inflation is beginning to ease, day‑to‑day life still feels expensive for lots of families. Food shopping costs more than it used to. Fuel, transport, council tax and household bills continue to stretch budgets. For frontline care workers who spend their days supporting others, these pressures remain very real.
That’s why we believe that supporting our team in practical, meaningful ways still matters in 2026.

We also understand that wellbeing isn’t just about enjoying your job, it’s about feeling supported as a whole person. That includes recognising financial pressures and providing cost of living support where we can, as an employer, to help during challenging times.
Practical Cost of Living Support When It’s Needed
Energy bills, food shopping and travel costs continue to put pressure on household budgets, even where government support and price caps offer some relief.
So, rather than just talking about support, we’ve taken action. That’s why this month, every member of our team received a £50 cost of living support payment, offering practical help during the winter period and a sincere thank you for everything they do.
These payments aren’t a solution to all the challenges facing social care, but they are a meaningful way for us to say thank you. They recognise the dedication of our team and offer practical support at a time when many people are still feeling the strain.
Because looking after our Carers helps them continue to look after others.
